I had to buy it because my new laptop doesn’t bring more than an integrated headphone-microphone plug. I hate that feature in my laptop, but I like a lot this little device.

I’m sure it works for many others but for me it didn’t work so well. It worked great as a splitter, it did its job but however the volume for the mic output was low on the other end. In other words it just didn’t really work for me unfortunately.

This works great to adapt a standard pc headset for use on an ipod touch, iphone or macbook. Great for using an ipod touch as a skype phone.

My Thinkpad T410 laptop has only one jack, which is called “combo audio jack”.

It was designed for audio input and output, but my external microphone cannot work on it.

Luckily, I found this adapter, so I can use my external earphone and microphone at the same time.

I purchased this adapter for two applications. Using the computer headset on a 2.5 mm telephone, which I am sorry to report it did not work that well with my Packet8 phone. It did worked well with a Polycom Soundpoint, therefore cannot blame the adapter.

Additionally, I used the 2.5 to 3.5 smartphone portion to connect a Blackberry to my aviation headset. It worked well too.

This is a very good solution, nevertheless be aware that depending on the phone/headset combination you may experience different performance.
